“Hello! Did you eat? We have bread and sandwiches. Do you need them?” When volunteers were distributing food, they would discover new faces. He was a South-Asian that we had never seen before and he looked pale.
“Thank you! Thank you very much! Thank you, pretty boys and pretty girls!”. After receiving food, he was surprised and grateful and kept saying thank you. It was like he got a big present.
Although we did not understand about his situation, one serving of collected food comforting him for the moment was much more worthwhile than sending it to the landfills.

Food sharing action needs your support very much. We sincerely invite you to be a volunteer. With your participation, not only will we be able to continue to cherish food and help others, but also spread the action to more districts.
Last week, volunteers joined bread and meal box collection and sharing action in 6 districts, namely Fo Tan, Tai Po, Fanling, To Kwa Wan, Hung Hom and Causeway Bay. A total of 487 servings of bread and 40 meal boxes weighing 91.02 kgs in total were collected. The total number of beneficiaries was 276.
Here were the results of each district:
Fo Tan: On Saturday, 83 servings of bread weighing 13.85 kgs were collected; on Sunday, 96 servings of bread weighing 10.86 kgs were collected. All bread were distributed to the cleaners and members in the neighbourhood. The total number of beneficiaries was 96.
Tai Po: On Saturday, 23 servings of bread weighing 2.80 kgs were collected; on Sunday, 74 servings of bread weighing 3.10 kgs were collected. All bread were distributed to the cleaners, scavengers, the homeless and members in the neighbourhood. The total number of beneficiaries was 44.
Fanling: On Tuesday, 93 servings of bread weighing 13.56 kgs were collected; on Friday, 79 servings of bread weighing 8.30 kgs were collected. All bread were distributed to the cleaners, security guards, scavengers and the homeless. The total number of beneficiaries was 69.
To Kwa Wan: On Wednesday, 26 sandwiches (included in the total bread weight) weighing 6.00 kgs were collected; on Sunday, 13 servings of bread weighing 1.02 kgs were collected. All bread were distributed to the cleaners, the homeless and members in the neighbourhood. The total number of beneficiaries was 27.
Hung Hom: On Friday, 22 servings of meal boxes weighing 21.45 kgs were collected. All meal boxes were distributed to the cleaners, scavengers and members in the To Kwa Wan neighbourhood. The total number of beneficiaries was 22.
Causeway Bay: On Friday, 18 meal boxes weighing 10.08 kgs were collected. All meal boxes were distributed to the homeless in Victoria Park and Tin Hau and members in the neighbourhoods. The total number of beneficiaries was 18.
